Level: This is most suited to B2-C1 level

Time: 1 hour, 20 minutes + (depending on level and conversation development)

This Shopping & Spending Expressions lesson plan focuses on expressions and idioms related to shopping, spending, sales, and deals. Students read the idioms in context and try to determine their meaning before matching the idioms to their meanings. It then follows with a gap-fill exercise and some language focus. Finally, the students write their own mini-dialogues and ask and answer conversation questions which contain the idioms. There is also a homework task where students transform and rewrite given sentences to include the expressions they have learnt.

We have a teacher’s copy (including teacher’s notes, an answer key, and a pronunciation guide) and a student version which you can email to your class for online lessons.
