This ‘Writing an Email to a Friend’ lesson plan aims to improve students’ writing skills and vocabulary useful for informal emails and letters. It includes reading and analysis of a model email, focus on useful phrases for informal correspondence, including greetings, opening lines, language for sharing news, asking for updates, and phrases for closing the email/letter and signing off. There are a variety of practice exercises, including vocabulary-definition matching, speaking tasks, and a writing task where the students write a reply to the model email.
We have a teacher’s copy (including teacher’s notes, a pronunciation guide and an answer key) and a student version which you can email to your class for online lessons.
