Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about TEFL Lessons. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please contact us and include as much information as possible so we can help quickly.

Before you purchase

Please read this before purchasing a TEFL Lessons membership
  • Digital product with immediate access: Premium access is activated immediately after purchase.
  • No refunds once access is used: Due to the digital nature of our materials, refunds are not offered once Premium access has been activated or content has been downloaded/used.
  • One membership = one teacher: Individual memberships are licensed to one teacher and may not be shared.
  • Use the correct email address: Premium access is linked to the email address used at checkout. If you use more than one email address, make sure you log in with the same one.
  • Auto-renew memberships include a one-time sign-up fee: This applies to all new auto-renew subscriptions, even if you previously had a pay-as-you-go plan.
  • Coupon codes may be restricted: Some promotions apply only to specific plans. Always check the offer terms before purchasing.
  • Cancellation stops renewal, not current access: Cancelling prevents future charges but does not remove access immediately.

Login & access issues

I can’t log in, register, or download materials. What should I do?

Most login and download issues are caused by saved passwords, cached browser data, or browser extensions. Please try these steps in order:

Step 1: Try a clean login

  1. Open a private/incognito window
  2. Go to: https://tefllessons.com/my-account/
  3. Manually type your email and password (do not select autofilled details)

Step 2: Remove saved login details

  • Delete any saved TEFL Lessons usernames/passwords from your browser and any password manager you use (Chrome/Google Password Manager, Safari/iCloud Keychain, etc.)
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Log in again and save the password only once

Step 3: Disable extensions / blockers

Temporarily disable browser extensions, especially:

  • ad blockers
  • privacy/security tools
  • password managers (autofill)
  • VPNs

If you can log in but Premium materials appear locked

Make sure you are logged into the correct account (the email used for purchase). It’s possible to accidentally create a second account with a different email address.

If you still can’t access Premium materials, please contact support and include:

  • the email address you’re using to log in
  • your order number (if available)
  • screenshots of what you’re seeing
When it works on one device but not another

If you can log in on one device/browser but not another, the device where it isn’t working is usually using saved login details, cached data, or extensions.

Try:

  1. Open a private/incognito window
  2. Go to /my-account/
  3. Type your email and password manually (no autofill)

If it works in private/incognito mode:

  • delete saved TEFL Lessons login details on that device
  • clear cookies/cache
  • disable extensions and try again
I’m seeing a “Security Firewall” or “IP blocked” message. What does this mean?

Our website uses automated security tools to protect against suspicious or unusual activity. In some cases, an IP address (network connection) may be temporarily blocked.

This can happen for several reasons, including:

  • repeated login attempts in a short period of time
  • activity that matches known spam or attack patterns
  • network/IP addresses that have a poor reputation or have been flagged elsewhere (e.g. shared networks)

What should I do?

Please contact us and include:

  • the exact message you see
  • a screenshot, if possible
  • your account email address (if relevant)
Important
  • Changing your password will not resolve a firewall/IP block.
  • The message is triggered at network level, so using a different browser may not help.
  • Once cleared, access should return to normal.
How do I reset or change my password/username?

If you are logged out

Use the “Lost your password?” link on the login page.

If you are logged in

Go to My Account → Account details to change your password.

Important: Passwords are linked to specific email addresses. A password saved for one email/account will not work for another email/account.
I can’t see password reset or welcome emails. What should I do?

Check:

  • spam/junk folder
  • promotions/filtered tabs

If you still can’t find them, your email provider (especially school/work email addresses) may be filtering messages. Please contact support and we’ll help you regain access.

I contacted TEFL Lessons but haven’t heard back within 48 hours. What should I do?

Please check your spam/junk folder and any filtered inbox tabs. If you find our reply, mark it as “Not spam”. If you still can’t find anything, please contact us again — some providers filter messages before they reach the inbox.

Email reminders and notifications

We send reminder and account emails to the email address linked to your account from info@tefllessons.com.

If emails are filtered into spam or other folders, you may not see them, so we recommend checking your spam/junk folder and adding info@tefllessons.com to your contacts/safe senders list.

Please note that email notifications are provided as a courtesy and non-receipt of reminder emails does not affect renewal or expiry dates.

Downloading & materials

How do I download materials?

Free materials
Create a free account, log in, and click “Download” on any free resource page.

Premium materials
Purchase a membership, log in, and click “Download” on any Premium resource page.

For best results when opening/printing PDFs, use Adobe Acrobat Reader (free).

Where can I find the Answer Key and Pronunciation Guide?

The Answer Key is included in the Teacher’s Copy of each lesson and can be found at the end of the Teacher’s Copy.

Please make sure you download both files for each lesson:

  • Student Copy – for use with your learners
  • Teacher’s Copy – for your reference

The Teacher’s Copy includes:

  • Teacher’s notes
  • The full answer key
  • Pronunciation guides (British and American English where applicable)
Common abbreviations used in our worksheets

In our materials, we use standard ESL and dictionary abbreviations to keep explanations clear and concise:

  • sb = someone
  • sth = something
  • v = verb
  • n = noun
  • adj = adjective
  • adv = adverb
  • prep = preposition
  • phr v / pv = phrasal verb
  • pl = plural
  • sing = singular
  • inf = infinitive
  • pp = past participle

These abbreviations are widely used in ESL coursebooks and learner dictionaries. Teachers may wish to pre-teach them, especially at lower levels.

Memberships, billing & discounts

Membership types: pay-as-you-go vs auto-renew subscriptions

We offer both pay-as-you-go memberships and auto-renew subscriptions.

Pay-as-you-go (manual renewal) memberships

  • Fixed-term access (e.g. 6 or 12 months)
  • Does not renew automatically
  • You’ll receive expiry reminder emails before access ends
  • If you want continued access, you purchase again manually

Auto-renew subscriptions

  • Renews automatically unless cancelled
  • Renewals may apply at a discounted rate (as stated on the plan)
  • You’ll receive emails before renewal with the due date and amount
  • You can cancel anytime in your account area to stop future renewals
Why is there a sign-up fee on auto-renew memberships?

Auto-renew memberships include a one-time sign-up fee. This applies to all new auto-renew subscriptions.

If you previously had a pay-as-you-go (manual renewal) membership, the sign-up fee will still apply when switching to an auto-renew plan. This is because auto-renew memberships are a different subscription type, even if you’ve been a member before.

Available introductory discounts

  • INTRO20 – 20% off a 12-month auto-renew membership
  • INTRO15 – 15% off a 6-month auto-renew membership

These codes:

  • Apply to new auto-renew subscriptions only
  • Can be used once per customer

How do sales and coupon codes work?

From time to time, we run promotions. Please note:

  • Coupon codes apply only under the conditions stated at the time of the promotion
  • Some discounts apply only to new auto-renew subscriptions
  • Coupons typically do not apply to existing subscriptions, renewals/early renewals, or School Packages (unless explicitly stated)
  • Coupon codes cannot be applied retroactively or added after purchase
Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account area.

What happens when you cancel?

  • Your subscription will not renew
  • You keep access until the end of your current billing period
  • You will not be charged again

What cancellation does NOT do

  • Cancelling does not remove access immediately
  • Cancelling does not trigger a refund
Can I pause my membership?

No. Memberships cannot be paused.

Do you offer refunds?

TEFL Lessons provides digital products with immediate access. Once Premium access is activated, materials can be downloaded and used straight away. For this reason, we do not offer refunds once Premium access has been activated/used.

Refunds are not available for:

  • change of mind after purchase
  • lack of use after access is granted
  • issues caused by browser settings, password managers, or device-related issues
  • purchases made using an incorrect email address

How can I get an invoice?

Invoices are automatically generated after purchase. They are:

  • emailed to you, and
  • available to download from your My Account area

If you require additional invoice details (school name/address/reference number), please contact us.

Using TEFL Lessons materials (licensing)

How can I use your materials?

✔ Allowed

  • Use materials in your own classes (online or in person)
  • Share your screen during lessons (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.)
  • Send student versions to learners for lessons you are teaching
  • Assign occasional homework linked to lessons you teach
  • Display teacher answers on your screen while teaching
  • Print student copies for your own students

✘ Not allowed

  • Sending teacher copies, answer keys, or teacher notes to students
  • Sharing files with other teachers
  • Uploading PDFs to public websites, shared drives, staff portals, or LMS platforms accessible by multiple teachers
  • Redistributing, reselling, republishing, or modifying materials
  • Using our branding/logo as your own

Misuse may result in account suspension, as outlined in our Terms & Conditions.

Can I edit the resources (Word versions)?

No. TEFL Lessons resources are provided as PDF files and are intended to be used as they are. Editable Word versions are not available, and resources are not designed to be edited or converted into other formats.

What are fillable fields?

Many of our PDFs include fillable fields so students can type answers directly into the document.

Important notes:

  • Fillable fields are designed for on-screen use
  • Fillable fields do not appear when printed
  • Not all resources currently include fillable fields
  • Adding fillable fields across our library is an ongoing process
I found an error in a resource. What should I do?

Please contact us — we really appreciate it.

Include:

  • the resource name
  • page/activity
  • what you think is wrong (a screenshot helps)

If an error is confirmed, we’ll correct the resource and update the downloadable file.

Suitability

Are your resources suitable for children or young learners?

TEFL Lessons is designed primarily for teenage and adult ESL learners, as stated on our homepage. That said, many A0–A2 resources can also be used successfully with young learners, particularly for basic vocabulary and simple grammar, with parental or teacher guidance.

The site is a general ESL resource library, not a primary curriculum, and some materials may include adult-oriented contexts (e.g. work or daily routines). Users typically select or adapt materials as needed.

Schools & institutional use

School Packages & Institutional Access

School Packages are designed for multi-teacher use.

Do School Packages auto-renew?
No. School Packages are fixed-term licences and do not auto-renew.

Can we share one account between teachers?

Individual memberships: No. Individual memberships are licensed to one teacher only and may not be shared.

School Packages: In most cases, each teacher has their own login.

Limited exception (by prior agreement only): In very limited cases, for small teams only, we may allow access via one shared account, by prior agreement. This is approved case-by-case, limited to a small defined number of teachers, and monitored to ensure fair use. If more teachers need access, the School Package must be upgraded.

Can schools upload materials to shared drives or LMS platforms?
No. School Packages do not permit uploading TEFL Lessons PDFs to shared drives or LMS/staff portals accessible by multiple teachers.

Discounts & coupon codes for schools
School Package pricing includes built-in discounts. Public coupon codes generally do not apply unless explicitly stated.

Monitoring usage
To protect our content and keep pricing fair, we monitor usage patterns such as download activity and login/access behaviour, especially where shared access has been approved. If usage exceeds agreed terms, we may request an upgrade or restrict access, in line with our Terms & Conditions.

Do you have an affiliate programme?

Fraud / unauthorised sellers / false discounts

I bought a TEFL Lessons membership elsewhere.

Only purchases made through tefllessons.com are valid. Other sellers are unauthorised.

I received a TEFL Lessons offer from someone online. Is it legitimate?

No. Memberships are only sold on our official website.

Are memberships sold on other social media or websites?

No. TEFL Lessons membership is only sold on tefllessons.com.

I saw a TEFL Lessons discount online. Is it real?

We announce promotions only on our official channels: Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube.

I’ve seen false advertisements using TEFL Lessons branding.
