Describing Creatures

Level: This is suited to B2  but can be used as revision with C1- level students.

Time: 1 hr + (depending on level, and conversation development).  

This ‘Describing Creatures’ lesson starts with a conversation warm-up. Students then complete two image-matching exercises before focusing on the pronunciation of the new vocabulary. The students then practice what they have learnt by naming creatures which have the features they have learnt.

Next, the lesson looks at some other useful language for describing creatures including diet, habits, and behaviour. Finally, they are given lots of opportunity to consolidate and practice what they have learned with a guess-the-creature game and an activity where they write their own description of a creature.
