Level: This is most suited to B2 – C1 level.

Time: 1 hour + (depending on level and conversation development)

This is a lesson to teach idioms/expressions which come from sports and games. Students read the idioms in context and try to determine their meaning before matching the idioms to their meanings and then to the sports/games they come from. It then follows with a gap-fill exercise, conversation practice and a mini dialogues writing exercise. There is an additional exercise in the teacher copy.

We have a teacher’s copy (including teacher’s notes, and an answer key) and a student version which you can email to your class for online lessons.
