Valentine’s Web Quest

This Valentine’s Day ESL WebQuest is an interactive research and speaking activity designed for B1–C1 learners. It encourages students to work independently, share information, and take part in extended discussions around the theme of love and relationships.

This lesson comes with:

Teacher’s Copy – Includes detailed teacher’s notes and an answer key.

Student Version – Perfect for sharing via email for online lessons.

This is most suited to B1-C1 level students.

30 minutes +

Students begin by searching online for information about famous love stories, both factual and fictional. They then report back what they have learned to their group, summarising key details and explaining why the story is well known. This stage develops research skills, note-taking, and spoken reporting.

After completing the research task, students use a set of Valentine’s Day ESL questions to discuss the topics and share opinions.

This WebQuest works well as a standalone speaking lesson or as part of a wider Valentine’s Day unit. It requires minimal preparation and is suitable for teen and adult ESL learners in classroom or online settings.

This is a fantastic website and the worksheets scaffold the teaching points very well. But there are two things that I find to be a small irritant. When I put in a specific search e.g. second conditional - it includes worksheets not related to that search. The other thing is that I am a paid subscriber but often a pop up box appears asking me to review the free resources. I have to keep closing the pop up box which is annoying.
