Christmas Speaking Activity

Bring meaningful holiday discussion into your classroom with these ESL Christmas conversation questions. Designed for A2–B2 learners, this flexible speaking activity helps students talk about Christmas, share experiences, and compare seasonal traditions in a relaxed, communicative way.

This lesson comes with:

Teacher’s Copy – Includes detailed teacher’s notes and an answer key.

Student Version – Perfect for sharing via email for online lessons.

This is most suited to A2-B2 level students.

45 minutes +

Students take turns selecting a question and asking it to a classmate in their group. Each student aims to speak for at least one minute, giving them plenty of fluency practice while developing confidence with festive language and familiar holiday topics.

After the main activity, students can:

  • Share what they learned from classmates during their discussions, or
  • Research Christmas traditions in another country and report back to the class
