Overview of Intensifiers Exercises
1. Summer Vocabulary
Students begin by matching useful summer vocabulary to pictures before reading the first short text about summer activities.
2. Reading in Context
Students read two short texts about summertime activities, including going to the beach, having barbecues, camping, swimming, hiking, and sitting around a campfire. They answer comprehension questions and see the target language in context.
3. Very, Really, and So
Students focus on examples from the readings before learning how very, really, and so are used to make adjectives and adverbs stronger. The lesson also introduces the use of really before verbs such as like, love, want, enjoy, hate, and miss.
4. Too
Students learn how too is used with adjectives and adverbs to show that something is excessive, more than we want, or more than is necessary.
5. Grammar and Speaking Practice
Students complete controlled grammar exercises before discussing summer-related questions in pairs or small groups. They are encouraged to use very, really, so, and too in their answers.
