Question Words Conversation

This free question words activity gives A1/A2 students useful speaking practice with common question forms in English. Designed for teens and adults, it includes a range of conversation prompts to help students develop confidence and fluency in speaking.

Overview of This Question Words Activity

1. Speaking Practice

Students ask and answer questions using what, when, where, why, which, how, what time, how often, who, whose, how much and how many. The prompts provide controlled practice with common WH questions through meaningful conversation.

2. Pair or Group Conversation

Students work in pairs or small groups, taking turns to ask and answer the questions. Higher-level students can be encouraged to ask follow-up questions to extend the conversation.

Skills Developed

Speaking, question formation, fluency and conversational confidence.

Lesson Objectives

By the end of the activity, students will have practised understanding and responding to a range of common questions in English.

This is a fantastic website and the worksheets scaffold the teaching points very well. But there are two things that I find to be a small irritant. When I put in a specific search e.g. second conditional - it includes worksheets not related to that search. The other thing is that I am a paid subscriber but often a pop up box appears asking me to review the free resources. I have to keep closing the pop up box which is annoying.
